Josephine Rachiele was one of the women honored for serving this Country on the assembly lines during World War II. One of thousands who worked at Republic Aviation, she helped build P-47 Thurderbolt fighters. While the "Rosie the Riveter" poster-girl became an icon, the women behind the symbol were an integral part of America's work force and began our nation's evolution into a more pluralistic nation by breaking down gender biases.
