Ashley & Ryan’s Race Saturday, August 12th 2006 at John J. Burns Park
On Saturday, August 12th 2006, the Massapequa Fire Department hosted its 12th Annual Emergency Services Canoe Challenge. The race consisted of a two mile course to the Great South Bay, beginning and ending at John Burns Park in Massapequa. Pictured below are the Fire Departments(including Ambulance Companies & Fire Police), Peace Officers (including Sheriffs, Constables & Police), Physical Fitness (includes Martial Arts, Fitness Clubs & Gyms), Social Clubs (includes PTA, Katie Daly’s & K of C), Corporate (includes all corporate sponsored competitors), and Senior Division (sum of the ages of the 2 competitors is 90 years or better)
First place finishers are eligible to compete in the Grand Champion race.
This year, they raised funds for the families of Ryan Haskell, a 5 year old Seaford boy fighting Cranial Synostosis, and Ashley Consola a 6 year old girl from North Babylon battling Wilms Disease.
