On Saturday, September 29th, the Knights of Columbus hosted the "Soccer Challenge" at the "Field of Dreams." Boys and girls aged 10 to 14 participated in the event.
The challenge was to shoot the ball in the goal, but with a twist. Certain areas of the goal were worth more points than others, such as the top left and right corners of the net being worth 20 points. The boy and girl in each age group with the most points at the end of 15 penalty kicks would advance to the next round.
The Soccer Challenge is designed to test the basic skills of the penalty kick. Those most successful won awards and certificates. The winners now move on to Nassau Championship where they will test their ability against a larger talent pool.
