On the night of December 1, 2007, the Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor, John Venditto, sponsored an Old-Fashioned Holiday Celebration in honor of the upcoming holidays. To celebrate, a christmas tree and menorah were lit and hot chocolate served to the delight of attendees. Massapequans gathered around Klestinec Park on Broadway to enjoy the celebration and watch the South Shore Dancers perform a mini recital.

Columnist, Ed Lowe, in Massapequa

On Thursday, May 24, 2007, writer, humorist and story-teller Ed Lowe, made an appearance at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon held at Paddy's Loft.   Mr. Lowe spoke in front of the Chamber crowd of 35 about how "everything you do matters."  Apologizing for the absence of relevance in his words, one gets the idea that his self-effacing humor is an obvious testament to his humble, gentle existence.

A "recovering Irish-Catholic from Amityville," Mr. Lowe dubbed himself a "nickel-plated celebrity," after being fired from his 14-year "volunteer" position at TeleCare.  Mr. Lowe has made a living in "hot air" and is not happy unless he is "perpetrating an atrocity."  Our impression?  Find him, read him and meet him if you can!
