Located within the Town of Oyster Bay on the south shore of Long Island, Massapequa, NY occupies 3.6 square miles of space with a current population of 22,652. The total population of the greater Massapequas is closer to 78,769.
The Massapequa name comes from the Indian group which originally inhabited the land -- the Marsapeagues. The Indian word Massapeauke means "great water land."
